My sister told me today (via text) that she could tell my heart was lighter because I was being silly (I was complaining there aren’t any good pickle emoji’s). She’s right, my heart is lighter! I’ll tell you why in a bit…
First, let’s think about having a light heart. When you have a light heart, it’s easier to find your sexual interest. Light hearts tease with a bit of sass and silliness. People with light hearts aren’t mired in stress. Light hearts, generally, have a positive spirit. Light hearts lead to laughter. (Laughter also can lead to sexual interest.)
There are lots of opportunities to let stress go during this autumn time of harvest and have some fun. With Fall Festivals and Trunk ‘r’ Treats a-plenty, there are bushels of innocent ways to have fun and maybe even re-visit your childhood.
Reflect on a good memory from your youth. It can help you reconnect with a time when you were a little more carefree. Remembering what it felt like to be carefree can help you clothe yourself in that attitude, if only for a few hours.
Carefree fun leads to a light heart, which can lead to laughter, which can lead to some flirtation with your honey over the little ones’ heads. That can lead to some spicey bedroom time after the little munchkins have bobbed for apples and have cozied into bed for the night.
(Side note: Flirtation is very important! When our kids were little I was only focused on them. I should have also been focusing on my sexy man, too. Throughout our days, we should have been winking, or at least looking at each other occasionally, and brushing hands in a sweet, knowing way. Hubbies help your sweeties with the munchkins at the Festivals and flirt with her by telling her how lovely she is.)
Here are four super easy ways to bring a Fall Festival into your bedroom.
Start by sharing a good childhood memory that revolves around the traditions of Autumn. Why did you like this memory? How did it make you feel? Ask him to share his memory, too. Give him equal time to talk, ladies, if you have a quiet gent. Some men need more time than others to find their memories, remember how it made them feel, and give voice to it all.
Dig out that Apple Cinnamon candle for your bedroom and light it.
Buy a pair of those costume thigh-highs at Wal-Mart (go on November 1st and they will be on sale!) Get him a hat, or an eye-patch, or something else fun to wear, as well. Show up in nothing but your thigh highs.

Now, I promised to tell you why I am light-hearted. It’s because I just completed one of the most grueling terms of my University work since returning as a non-traditional student! My classes have a semester’s worth of material crammed into 8-week terms. Generally, I’ve enjoyed the fast pace. However, Hurricane Irma threw a wrench in the mix. It was tough conceptual material and I was an emotional wreck, at times. That’s a bad combination, especially for Dave! To recover fully, I am taking the rest of the year off from my studies for a much needed sanity break during the holidays. I’ll return in January. With only 7 classes and an internship to complete, I should have my Christian Counseling degree by next fall.
Compared to the rest of the world affected by hurricanes this season, we had no significant damage. The worst part was losing power for four days and not being prepared with a generator. We were very hot for four days and nights. I am so incredibly grateful to Mr. Edison and whoever invented Air Conditioning.
The great part of the last 8 weeks is the time I’ve gotten to spend with my podcast sisters! We have been trying to provide meaningful conversations for you all over at Sex Chat for Christian Wives. We now have 20 episodes complete! They’re all my favorite episodes, but here’s one I thought you might like: Body Image (episode #17).
